<>We said goodbye to Ralph, and we headed off to Lihue for lunch. Went to a place frequented by the locals called Mark’s Place. We bought a couple of meals (chicken katsu & teriyaki beef), and then went to Nawiliwili Harbour to eat it. It was a cheap and okay food. But not as good as the fish meals we got from Fish Express.

We are now becoming Local Take out Fish Connoisseurs.

Since the weather wasn’t that great, we headed up to Kapaa to get some more fruit from the Sunnyside Market. They were out of sugar loaf pineapples, but they said that they were going to be arriving any moment. So, we decided to head off to the Birkenstock store and see what they had. However, when we got there, it was closed for 20 minutes. We wandered to the shop next door to kill some time. As we were wandering through the shop, the guy working there started a conversation with us. He asked where we were from. When we told him we were from Edmonton, he said that he lived there for 2 years – in the Fort Saskatchewan Provincial Prison. I guess about 20 years ago, he happened to stop in St. Albert overnight and got caught with some marijuana. He told me a whole lot of his life story that I really didn’t need to know. Okaaaaaaaaay. So, we managed to extricate ourselves from the ex-con and got out of the shop and headed back to the market (we didn’t bother waiting around for the Birkenstock store to open again).

Hapa walked out, and Haole got caught listening to the Marijuana man. Sorry about that Haole.

Sugar Loaf Pineapple

The sugar loaf pineapples were in by the time we got back, so we bought one and continued on our way. We stopped at the Sunshine Market that was being held in Lihue that day. Bought some more rambutan fruit.

Went back to the condo, and relaxed for a bit. Decided that we would just go somewhere simple for supper – so we decided to go back to Bubba’s Burgers. On the way there, we stopped at Kukui Grove shopping centre and wandered around the shops. That mall is still pretty dead.

When we got back to the room, we thought we would maybe do some laundry. However, the laundry room closed at 9:00, and it was already 8:30 by the time we got everything organized. So, we decided to wait until the next day.

Hapa & Haole go on a Hawaiian vacation, and they are doing laundry, does it get anymore exciting ?
