Woke up early, and had an early breakfast out on the lanai. We noticed 3 big tour buses heading to the Spouting Horn before 8:00am. We were quite surprised to see such an increase in the number of buses going by. We found out later on that a cruise ship had docked, so that explained the increased number of buses.

Don't you wish all breakfasts could be like this?

After breakfast, we headed over to the next beach over to see if the snorkelling was any better. We talked to a couple just getting out of the water that said they saw some big turtles. We went in, but we didn’t see any turtles, and the fish weren’t any better than at the beach just in front of the condo. There was quite a strong current, so it was quite an effort getting back to shore.

Strong Current… Hapa was pushing Haole most of the way to shore !

Since it started getting nice and sunny, we decided to head to the beach in front of the Sheraton. We did a lot of frolicking in the waves – trying to body surf. All the frolicking worked up an appetite, so we headed to Poipu Shopping Centre and had lunch at Poipu Tropical Burgers. Randy had a burger and I had a veggie sandwich. Both were okay, but nothing overly exciting.

We went back to the condo and tried to decide whether we should go back out into the sun or not. We took a little walk along the shore, and since the sun felt quite hot on our skins, we decided that we probably had been in the sun long enough. So, we went back inside and lay down for an afternoon nap. Frolicking in the waves takes a lot out of a person.

We woke up from our nap, and decided to head off and do some shopping at Hilo Hatties. If you made a purchase there, you got some 2-for-1 coupons. Since we needed to buy some trinkets anyway, we went to see what kind of coupons they were giving out. So, we bought a few things and got our coupons.

Ah, Hilo Hatties, a Hawaiian institution.

We drove down to the harbour to check out the cruise ship. Then we decided to use one of 2-for-1 coupons to have supper at the Oki Diner. We both ordered some combination plates, and stuffed ourselves full of food for only $8.95. Definitely one of the cheaper suppers on our trip!
