Welcome to Day 13 of Janet and Randy's Kauai Adventure 2016

Tuesday, October 25, 2016

We took our time getting moving this morning, and had a leisurely breakfast.  Spent some time trying to figure out why our FTP login didn't seem to work (for the non-technical people, File Transfer Protocol is how we upload our travel journal and the pictures in our album).  Our existing FTP login seemed to have an issue with it, so we created a new one, and that one worked.  So, I was able to upload some pictures and the journal entry from yesterday.  There were a few vulgarities uttered during this time !

We realized that we were running low on fruit, so we found that there is a 10:00am farmer's market at the County Building in Lihue on Tuesdays.  So, we headed into Lihue to check it out.  The market wasn't overly big, but we were able to find some bananas and papayas.  We then popped by Pat and Mike's house to drop off some extra fish that we had - as they hadn't been able to attend the potluck due to Pat not feeling well.  She was feeling better today, so they should be able to make it to Randy's birthday celebration tomorrow.

As there wasn't any pineapple for sale at the market, we popped into Costco to get one (and maybe a few chocolate macadamia nuts as well - unlikely those will last long enough to make it home).  We then went across the street to pay off my Macy's account.  We wandered around Macy's, but there wasn't anything that either of us really needed/wanted, even though I did find a $3 t-shirt.

Randy and Janet at Poipu BeachBy this time, it was getting close to noon, so we went to Garden Isle Barbecue for lunch.  I ordered the orange chicken, and Randy ordered a combination with barbecued chicken and chicken katsu.  Randy's meal was quite delicious, whereas mine was just okay.  In the past, the orange chicken here has been delicious.  But this time, the chicken was really chewy, and the orange sauce was a little flavourless.  That didn't stop me from eating most of it - but it just wasn't as good as I was expecting, or me nearly mopping up all the sauce on my plate !

After lunch, we contacted Blaine and Lisa to see if they wanted to meet us at Poipu Beach.  They agreed and we met up with them at 1:30pm.  We played in the water, splashed in the waves and made sand castles with the boys for about 2 hours.  We were all salty and sandy, so went back to our room to shower up.

There was a message from Jeff and Deanna saying they were at the pool, so we headed down to visit with them for a bit before we went out with Jenn to Keoki's Paradise to have some drinks and share some appetizers.  We had some pork nachos, coconut shrimp and crab cakes.  They were quite yummy, but we had some room leftover, so we drove over to Lappert's to have ice cream for dessert.  I had coconut caramel macadamia nut, and Randy had coconut chocolate macadamia nut fudge.  Both hit the spot.  We wandered (more like waddled) around the shops at Kukui'ula for a bit, and then came back to the room to relax and catch up on the journal.

Then it was early to bed as we were all tuckered out from being in the sun and sea.
