Welcome to Day 7 of Janet and Randy's Kauai Adventure 2017

Randy thought he would try to catch a 6:30am Bikram yoga class in Kapaa. He left just before 6:00am, but ended up hitting slow traffic all the way there, and got there about 5 minutes too late (the door was already locked and class had begun - Dammit !). So, that was irritating that he went all that way for nothing. So, he turned around, came home, and then we had some breakfast.
Randy's neck was really sore, so he phoned a massage place that we had been to before (Ola Massage). They were able to get the both of us in for 10:00am, so we headed up to Kapaa (again, for Randy). We both had a deep tissue massage, and it felt really great. We were done at 11:00am, and since we were in Kapaa, we decided to go to Monico's Taqueria for an early lunch. Randy decided to branch out and try something other than his usual fish burrito. So, instead he got the carnitas burrito. And instead of my usual fish tacos, I decided to go with something a little lighter - the fish salad. Both meals were very tasty. While at the Kinipopo Shopping village (Where Monico's is), there was a little shop called Passion Bakery Cafe. We stopped in there and they had a variety of cookies as well as pastries. The cookies they had were shortbread (Mango, lilikoi, pineapple and mac nut). So we decided to go with Mango and lilikoi. As we were heading to the car, we had our cookies and they were delicious.
We were supposed to meet up with the rest of the family at 2:15pm at the Koloa Rum tasting room. We decided to wander around the Kapaa area a bit, and then we made our way to Lihue. We gave ourselves lots of time, which was good because traffic was slow. We got to Kilohana (where the rum tasting is) just after 2:00pm. I signed the 6 of us up for the 2:30pm tasting, and the rest of the gang showed up shortly after. While waiting for our tasting time, we all wandered around the Koloa Rum store.
At 2:30pm, we were allowed into the tasting room. We ended up tasting the following types of rum: white rum, dark rum (both of which we added to a Mai Tai mix for a mini-Mai Tai), spiced rum and coconut rum. We also were given a little piece of rum cake with some chocolate rum sauce on top. The guy running the tasting was nice, but he wasn't nearly as hilarious as a gal we got last year.
After the rum tasting, we headed to Poipu to catch the Wednesday market at Kukui'ula. We picked up some fruit and then headed back to our room. We were both still all oiled up from our massage, so we took a quick shower and then headed across the road to Harold and Lil's condo for some sunset drinks. Unfortunately the sky was overcast and there was a big dark cloud right on the horizon, so we weren't able to see any sunset.
After the sun had set, we headed back to our unit, stopping at the Black Pearl Gallery that is attached to the Beach House restaurant. Randy was looking at the artwork, while I was looking at jewelry. I tried on a $8500 black pearl bracelet, but Randy wouldn't buy it for me. Yup, the big bad Randy !
We came back to the room and had leftover fish from the night before. We took the white rice and fried it up with some green onions and eggs, and also warmed up the fish in a pan with some butter. It was just as good the second day!
After supper, we went for a soak in the hot tub, and took it easy for the rest of the evening.
